One time we bought a travel groupon and it worked out
One beautiful august morning, my best friend called me and said, “We can go to Jamaica for $300 each! Let’s do it.” It took me all of 2 hours to decide that yes, we should buy this groupon and yes we should go to Jamaica. Flash forward 3 weeks later and we have landed in Montego Bay with drinks in our hand and food on food on food.
Our resort was an all inclusive resort, meaning we could leave our wallets in the safe and stuff our faces with delicious food all day (and night). We walk in to check in and they hand us a colorful drink, (but let’s be honest, its just kool-aid and rum) and tell us to visit the bartender every day for the new ‘drink of the day.’ Genius!
I’m not a huge fan of chicken, and only eat for the healthy reasons, so I tried the Jamaican Jerk Pork… Mind Blown! I brought enough seasonings and sauces back to enjoy until my next trip.
Because of the all-inclusive resort, we were able to easily book tours around the island. We went to a nice botanical garden:
Saw a pond and some pretty flowers, went shopping in the town of Ocho Rios and watched a man make pottery. This pottery was beautiful and took home what few pieces I could fit into my suitcase. The tour ended in a hike up their very famous waterfalls. I know waterfalls makes it sound scary, but it was anything but scary. I wore my Chacos and we walked hand in hand up some waterfalls that gradually inclined.
The hotel we stayed at has now changed its name, but I see groupons for Jamaica all the time. Read the fine print, because some are for two people and that is the best deal.
