You’ve booked the The Ultimate Bachelorette Weekend. Maybe it’s in Las Vegas, perhaps you’ve gone international or maybe it’s a superbly chill day with your girls. Either way, you’ll leave the weekend feeling blissful, partially hungover and dreading leaving the paradise you’ve created. So here’s how to survive a bachelorette weekend with good intentions.
Prepare for the Worst
And by worst, I mean feeling the worst. Even if you don’t have any intention of getting intoxicated, it could happen. It also could happen to one of the many girls there. It’s best to have a hangover survival kit ready to be deployed at any time. This kit would include things like:
- Cold Water
- Iced Coffee
- Scones or other carb-y items.
Maybe consider a healthy, lighter dinner the night before, but not salad! You’ll need something a little more fatty to help slow the absorption of alcohol. Think chicken or fish! That way you’re not left feeling hungover and bloated.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!
And we don’t mean just with water. Hydrate your body and your skin. Try to drink water before, during and plenty after to slow the effects of a mean hangover. Bring facial cleansing wipes to get rid of old makeup and grime, then slather a moisturizer on the next morning.
Avoid Sugary Drinks
Stay away from anything that has simple syrup or added sugars. My go-to is a vodka soda with lemon and lime. Sugar and alcohol mixed together, cause some of the worst hangovers. So steer clear of that jungle juice and get some grey goose.
*Another handy tip: Don’t mix liquors. But if you absolutely have to… stick to the same color. Vodka and Gin OR Whiskey and Bourbon.
Take Pictures Before
And then never take the phone out again. This is a time to have uninhibited fun, so don’t get everyone worried that an unflattering shot will be lit all over Facebook. If you’ve taken some photos, its best to discuss posting some of your favorites with the group before posting anything. DON’T POST WITHOUT PERMISSION.
Skip the Heels
Trust me, you still look hot in those flats, because you’re happily dancing and not complaining. Sandals, flats, comfortable short heels, wedges! By the time you get from your hotel room to the Uber, you will be regretting that pointed heel stiletto choice.
OPT for Bloody Mary’s instead of champagne at brunch
Bloody Mary’s are a total hair of the dog hangover cure. Champagne bubbles might turn your tummy. The tomato juice in a bloody mary is replenishing all those lost vitamins and nutrients from the night before, allowing for a quick turn-around!
