Meet Me!
Well, Hi ya!
I’m Alyssa DiMare and this is my adventure.
A little about who I am
I love red wine. So much so, that I have a bi-annual wine tasting party at my moms house. You can also say, I’m coffee-obssessed, but that probably stems from my endearing love for sleep. Thus, blackout curtains are my best friend. And without hesitation, I’ll call myself a foodie, because honestly cooking is one of my many passions, but so is eating. Other things that don’t define me, but make me happy: Yoga, hiking, social hours, reading, long conversations, oh and did I mention wine?
Where I come from, Where I go.
I come from a few places, but mostly I resonate with being a girl from a small town in Utah. Perhaps you’ve heard of Moab, perhaps not. But either way, it’s a tourist destination all on its own. Maybe thats where the initial bug started or maybe it was in my DNA all along. When I was growing up, my mother always said I was too big for this little town and I always knew she was kind of right. I couldn’t wait to leave, and now I’m always looking for reasons to come back. But only for the week.
See my awesome post on my home town: Beat the Heat in Moab
In high school, I was lucky enough to go on my first airplane. Yep, it took that long. A small group of us had the opportunity to head to Costa Rica for a month to study leatherback sea turtles and rainforest ecology. I was so enthralled, I began counting down the days until my next adventure.
Fast forward to college and I’m majoring in Mass Comm and International Studies. I have to study abroad somewhere to graduate and I picked Ireland. I lived and worked in Dublin for 3 months, mostly drinking and eating lots of fried fish, but hey we’ve all got a little Irish in us after all. Once work ended, a girlfriend and I backpacked our way through Europe. Cliché, but awesome. We hit London, Amsterdam, Paris, Milan, Venice, Florence and Rome. You could say I was hooked. I even started my very first travel blog while there, for school credit. It was called, “Stilettos weren’t made for cobblestones.”
Once graduation was upon me, I continued to work in Utah and take as many weekend trips in my car as I could. Arizona, California, Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada. The world was my oyster! Or at least the beautiful Southwest was. Of course along the way, there was Mexico and Jamaica too.
See how awesome my time in Jamaica with my best friend was. All this on one awesome Groupon.
And then I met the boyfriend. It was like a fairytale. (you can gag, that’s fine). I was always a calculated risk taker and this relationship was no different. After a few flybys to visit him in Detroit and Chicago, where work was taking him, I moved to Los Angeles. His home base and now mine. Did I mention, he travels A LOT for work. That was the catch. Me, a struggling writer in my ever-positive voice declared, “I can go anywhere, because I’m a writer!”
And so our life began.

In my pink pants, Phong Nha
